Meet the Team
(WHAT WE DO)
We create fundraising experiences that blend strategy and execution, designed to engage guests, drive bidding, and increase donations.
(WHO WE ARE)
Decades of Experience, Focused on Fundraising
Our team brings decades of hands-on experience in charity fundraising and auction management. We have supported hundreds of nonprofit events, helping organizations raise more while reducing the workload on their committees.
Chris Tyson
Founder and CEO
Chris Tyson founded Tyson Fundraising after recognizing the power of authentic sports memorabilia to elevate charitable events. A lifelong sports fan, he began collecting autographs through direct, in-person encounters with athletes and entertainers. In 2001, while attending a sports networking event in Austin, Chris was approached by a golf tournament coordinator in need of auction items. That first successful silent auction sparked the idea for what would become Tyson Fundraising. Chris combines a background in business marketing with decades of memorabilia experience to help nonprofits across Texas raise more through engaging, high-impact auctions.
Chuck Darling
Vice President, Dallas-Fort Worth Region
Chuck Darling has been with Tyson Fundraising since 2013, supporting charities throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the company’s largest market. He has played a key role in expanding the auction lineup, introducing designer fashion items, gift baskets, and premium golf memorabilia. Chuck is instrumental in building new nonprofit partnerships and regularly attends celebrity golf tournaments to acquire high-value signed items. A retired Navy veteran and educator, he brings discipline, professionalism, and a deep appreciation for community service to every event.
Joe McKeel
Vice President, Austin Region
Joe McKeel began presenting charity auctions in the Austin region in 2003 and is known for his creative approach to memorabilia selection. He has a sharp eye for pairing the right celebrity with the right item to drive strong bidding results. Joe was the first on the team to introduce signed guitars into fundraising auctions, which have since become a consistent crowd favorite. A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, Joe brings years of hands-on auction experience and strategic insight to events throughout Central Texas.
Randy Vargas
Vice President, San Antonio Region
Randy Vargas started presenting fundraising auctions in San Antonio in 2011 and oversees the company’s second-largest market. Based in his hometown, Randy frequently attends local sporting events to acquire signed memorabilia directly from athletes, particularly San Antonio Spurs players. He is closely involved in on-site auction management and client relationships, ensuring events run smoothly and meet fundraising goals. Randy’s hands-on approach and deep local connections make him a trusted partner for nonprofits in the San Antonio area.
